Raj has no 'CURE' for e-waste problem (March Week #1 (2015))
JAIPUR: A group of youngsters are running an e-waste awareness drive in the city by visiting schools and holding street plays at major hangouts. They claimed that Rajasthan has not a single dumping yard for e-waste which is causing problem in scientifically
disposing this e-waste which has its ill effects on health and environment.

Reeling under an ever-intensifying garbage crisis, the city, which had seemingly reposed its faith in new Pune district guardian minister Girish Bapat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to bring about a solution to the problem, may be surprised to know
that Bapat has, instead, put the onus of finding an answer to the issue neatly on the shoulders of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), despite the latter clearly having failed at the task till date.

Climate Change Conference (March Week #1 (2015))
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An international conference on Climate Change and Disaster Management will be held from February 26 to 28 at Rajiv Gandhi Convention Centre, Hotel Leela, Kovalam, Thiruvananthapuram.




The conference will be attended by eminent scientists from leading space organisations within and outside the country. The conference is being jointly organised by the International Academy of Astronauts, International Institute of Space Law, Ministry
of Earth Sciences, Indian Space Research Organisation and Kerala State Council of Science, Technology and Environment.

Corporation set up for Swachh A. P. mission (March Week #1 (2015))
The State government has decided to set up an exclusive corporation to manage the activities under the Swachh Andhra Pradesh programme.




The corporation, Swachh Andhra Pradesh Corporation has been launched in line with the Swachh Bharat mission launched at the national level to make cities totally sanitised, healthy and liveable by deriving public health and environmental outcomes for all
citizens with focus on hygiene and affordable sanitation for urban poor and women. The primary objective of the mission is elimination of open defecation, achieving 100 per cent collection and scientific processing, disposal, re-use and recycling of municipal
solid waste.
