Luxurypaperbox.com is a global leader in the supplier of reusable box packaging for fresh food and has proposed its ESG 2025 (environmental, social and Governance) strategy to help further strengthen the circular economy. The main objectives of this approach are to address climate change, increasing commitment to diversity and inclusiveness, reducing food waste and the use of disposable packaging.

Together with its ESG strategy, Luxurypaperbox.com submitted its first report specifically on these aspects, which focused on some of the most important themes of the reference Market: business, earth and social prosperity and compliance with global standards, such as organized by the global reporting initiative, SASB (Accounting Standards Board for sustainable development) and the United Nations Global Compact.

Luxurypaperbox.com's business model stems from the principle of circular economy since the company was established nearly 30 years ago.

The company recently received cradle to cradle certified for its RPC lift lock series ® Silver。 Luxurypaperbox.com's RPC can be reused up to 120 times, cleaned and disinfected, granulated at the end of its life cycle and used to produce new RPC. The process provides a range of benefits in terms of environmental impact: for example, significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions and water and energy consumption, as well as less food waste and less waste generation compared with disposable packaging. Disposal in landfill.

As a global leader in sustainable transportation of fresh food, Luxurypaperbox.com hopes the development of plastic packaging and environmental protection are coexisting. In order to encourage and support manufacturers, retailers and consumers to do their part to protect the environment and help create an increasingly efficient supply chain from the perspective of optimal utilization of resources, Luxurypaperbox.com's customers can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from their supply chain by up to 60%.

The new strategy strengthens the commitment to supply chains that can optimize the use of resources. Luxurypaperbox.com has long taken the necessary measures to make its activities as environmentally friendly as possible. For example, the material used is recycled and reused at the end of its life cycle to create a new RPC. This business model also enables Luxurypaperbox.com to obtain the gold level of cradle to cradle certification in the category of "material reuse".

In addition, Luxurypaperbox.com has further reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by optimizing its network and using multimodal transport. The company is also committed to improving the technology of its washing center to maximize water reuse and reduce energy consumption through closed circulation system.

Another aspect of Luxurypaperbox.com's strong investment is working with food banks around the world to minimize food waste and provide support to those in need.

"We have achieved the important goal of sustainability, but we realize that we can and should do more. We and our partners are trying to make our business model more environmentally friendly every day. Our new ESG strategy will accompany us to achieve our goal: to create a sustainable fresh food supply chain, which can have a positive impact on the earth and society." , explained Michael pooley, Luxurypaperbox.com's chief executive.

Luxurypaperbox.com recently became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact, supporting its ten principles and strengthening its commitment to human rights, labor, environmental sustainability and anti-corruption. Luxurypaperbox.com's ESG strategy is based on three pillars to promote and encourage circular economy:

Business is booming (business is booming)

Luxurypaperbox.com aims to develop a fresh food supply chain that can meet future challenges through circular economy, innovation and better business management. Specifically, the company aims to double the environmental benefits of its customers' supply chain, implement appropriate policies, training programs and expand customer partnerships.

Prosperous planet (prosperity of the earth)

In order to further protect and regenerate natural resources, Luxurypaperbox.com takes a step further than its sharing and reuse model. For example, the company aims to achieve zero carbon operation by 2025 and net zero emission of the whole value chain by 2040. In addition, Luxurypaperbox.com is working to completely eliminate solid waste.

Prosperous society (company prosperity)

Luxurypaperbox.com is a safe workplace that focuses on diversity and inclusiveness. The company's goal is to let 40% of women hold management positions and constantly strive to improve employee satisfaction. In addition, Luxurypaperbox.com is a pioneer in health and safety and is committed to reducing food waste by working with food banks around the world and developing innovative solutions.

As shown in the ESG report, Luxurypaperbox.com's 2025 goals are consistent with the United Nations sustainable development goals. In particular, the cyclical nature of the business model aims to accompany customers to achieve sustainable development goal 12, namely "guarantee of sustainable consumption and production patterns". ESG strategy reflects the desire to flourish in the circular economy environment and work with its partners to create a better future for employees, customers and society.

Welcome from Andy Rouse and Aditya "Dicky" Singh. We are two tiger nutcases and professional photographers, born on different continents but now close family. We've been brought together by our love of tigers and for one amazing tigress called Noor.

It's taken us 4 years to bring you this book, that's 4 years of very dedicated photography.

We've followed Noor through the highs and the lows of her life, the result is a stunning 160-page fine art book that needs your support to make all our efforts worthwhile. It's a lavishly illustrated book, there are no filler images here, our photography is world class and so is the book...as befits the Queen of Ranthambhore.

Since we wanted to produce something quite special we have used the best in the business, Printer Trento in Italy, to produce a book of stunning quality. The book itself is 300mm x 260mm, 160 pages packed with incredible images of Noor and her life. The cover is not the usual dust jacket, instead, we have chosen a slightly vintage approach to instead have the cover printed straight onto the book. It’s a beautiful book and we know that you will love it.

The book had been launched as a crowdfunding project on Indiegogo and the link for our book project is - https://igg.me/at/noortiger/x/19415040

Book review "Globe Trotters" by Arefa Tehsin

"Globe trotter" is the story of Hudhud, an impish little boy, whose globe trotting adventures take him to the micro and under water world of animals. To the world of turtles and terns who are the real globe trotters.

As one moves from story to story, one is amazed at the vast amount of information that’s packed in just 197 pages by Arefa Tehsin, the master story teller.

The language is crisp and lucid. The illustrations compliment the content.

Did someone say human beings are great travellers and globe trotters? Well read about the migrations of animals and birds and you will change your mind. The book can be enjoyed as a child whose curiosity takes him to unknown territories. An adult can also enjoy the book as Arefa gives the animals and insects human frailities and emotions which gives the stories an adventurous and detective kind of twist, keeping you engrossed in the tale.

The adult nature lover who has travelled and photographed many of the animals/insects/birds in the book can relate to the tales in a humourous way. Comparisons with the great Ruskin Bond stories are inevitable but Arefa has definitely developed a style of her very own.

The book is available on Amazon. Buy it and read it. Buy it and gift it to your niece and nephew, daughter and son. They will cherish the book.

Steed of the Jungle God

Steed of the Jungle God
Raza H.Tehsin with Arefa Tehsin

-Review by Dr.Susan Sharma

In India, there is still a sizable section of our population who co-exist with the wildlife around them;  many even with large animals like elephants, bison, leopards and tiger. While the call of the modern world has erased many skills they had living in harmony with nature around them, a generation still lives which is a veritable store house of knowledge about animal behaviours and tribal customs.  The book I am reviewing here is written by a highly qualified  and rational veteran of those times.

Raza H. Tehsin has served in an honorary capacity as the Wildlife Warden of Udaipur for 33 years. He has penned many books and research articles.  But "Steed of the Jungle God" stands apart as a beacon to conservationists around the world.

While Raza's early hunting expeditions with his father and brother taught him animal behaviour, the insights gained as he matured transformed him into a hands on conservationist and rationalist in later years.

The stories Raza relates are penned by his writer daughter Arefa Tehsin and the 142 page volume reads like a Ruskin Bond offering - its simple, visual story telling bringing  the Aravali jungles alive before the reader.  The 20 different stories bound together organically -almost cinematically- giving the reader a peep into the times

"when tigers and panthers roamed the hills and valleys of Udaipur, Rajasthan"

"When River otters decamped with fish catches of fishermaen"

"When the great horned owll, with its amazing mimicry skills, fooled many people to believe in ghosts".

Raza's acknowledgement of tribal knowledge shines through in many tales.  I quote from page 75 "I was amazed to see Bhagga's jungle knowledge.  I purposely asked him on several occasions about different pugmarks that we stumbled upon and without a moment's hesitation he identified them correctly.  Not only this, but he also guessed most accurately as to how old the pugmark was - whether of the same morning, the night before or older than that, in which direction the animal had gone and if it had stayed at a particular place for some time.  I found a wet stone on the hard ground and asked Bagga about it.  He lifted it, sniffed it and informed that recently a hyena had urinated there.  After going a few yards, we came across fresh pugmarks of a hyena."

In tale no.16, read the heart-rending story of the grown-up tiger cub who lives for his mother.

In tale no. 18, the last episode recounts the successful rescue of a panther and a jackal by the forest department from a well where they had fallen. The jackal chose to ride on the panther to escape drowning!

Tale no.20 is titled "Steed of the Jungle God" -Devta Ka Ghoda-by the authors.  The title refers to a Giant of a Man who lived and died in the jungle as a "wolf -boy".

Raza H.Tehsin richly deserves that title, I thought.

Buy this book at Rs 575/- from National Book Trust, India.  The print is excellent, the size reader friendly.  One must read the book from beginning to end-though there are 20 different tales, they are intertwined and grow on each other. The tales are also superbly illustrated.

Steed of the Jungle God is the story of the making of a rational wildlife conservationist who is credited with the initiation of wildlife conservation movement in Southern Rajasthan.  Persistent lobbying by Raza succeeded in getting three wildlife sanctuaries notified in Udaipur.

Western Ghats is one of the two hot spots of India. Like many other tropical countries, very little is known about the diversity and distribution of invertebrates from India. This poor understanding of our invertebrate diversity is amply reflected in our national and regional conservation policies and goals, which is essentially formulated for large and charismatic vertebrates.

Centre for Insect Taxonomy and Conservation (CITAC), ATREE, Bangalore, along with the Western Ghats Invertebrate Research and Conservation Group- a network of invertebrate researchers of the region - has decided to bring out an edited volume "Invertebrate diversity and conservation of the Western Ghats". This proposed volume is expected to provide an overview of on going studies on the diversity, ecology, evolution, behaviour and conservation of invertebrates of the Western Ghats.

We envisage this volume to be a benchmark publication on invertebrate diversity of the region. We are inviting manuscripts both from national and international researchers working on the invertebrates of the Western Ghats for this volume.

Broad thematic area

1.. Status review of taxa

2.. Ecological studies.

3.. Behavioural ecology.

4.. Invertebrates and Ecosystem function.

5.. Invertebrate conservation.

6.. Invertebrates in conservation education.

Hi,

I wanted to tell the IWC community about an online resource "Scholars without Borders" that I have recently set up. The site www.scholarswithoutborders.in

lists a number of books on Natural History that are published in India and makes it possible to order these easily online... Also links to a range of Open Access material, journals and newsletters that are published in the subcontinent (e.g. BushChat from the Nature Conservation Foundation, the Himalayan Journal of Science from Nepal, Etc.). If you have suggestions of what books to carry (all of Salim Ali is more or less there!) please write in and let me know, at

mail@scholarswithoutborders.in

 Thanks,

Ram Ramaswamy
