Manas National Park Manas (previously known as North Kamrup) was declared a sanctuary on October 01, 1928. It was designated a World Heritage site in December 1985. It extends into the foothills of Bhutan where it is called the Royal Manas National Park. It has the largest population of tigers among Indian reserves. Manas is also the primary habitat of the rare golden langur.Its wetlands are of international importance. It is also the single most important site for the future survival of pygmy hog and hispid hare. Area: 391 sqkm Best time to visit: November - March Prominenet Fauna: Golden Langur, Wild Buffalo, Hispid Hare, Pigmy Hog, Capped Langur, Indian one-horned Rhinoceros, Water Buffalo, Elephant, Gaur, Hog Deer, Tiger, etc. How to get there: The National Park is 41 km from the nearest town, Barapeta Road.
