Agra Fort is a large and powerful fort located in
Agra, Uttar Pradesh, just 2.5 km from the
Taj Mahal. It was built in the
16th century by
Emperor Akbar and later developed by other Mughal rulers. Made of red sandstone, the fort has high walls, grand gates, and beautiful palaces inside, like the
Jahangir Mahal,
Diwan-i-Aam, and
Sheesh Mahal. The fort was both a military stronghold and a royal residence. It is now a
UNESCO World Heritage Site and gives visitors a glimpse into the rich history and lifestyle of the Mughal emperors.
