I’m planning a short trip from Indore to Ujjain and wanted to share some useful details for anyone else considering the same route.

The Indore to Ujjain distance is around 55–57 km, which makes it one of the easiest intercity trips in Madhya Pradesh.

Travel time:

• By road: around 1.5 to 2 hours

• By train: roughly 1 to 1.5 hours

I found road travel to be quite convenient because the highway condition is good, and buses and taxis are easily available throughout the day. Many people prefer starting early in the morning to avoid traffic and reach Ujjain on time for temple visits.

Trains are also a great option if you want a faster and budget-friendly journey. There are multiple trains running daily between Indore and Ujjain, making it suitable even for same-day travel.

Because the distance is short, most travelers:

• Leave Indore early

• Visit Mahakaleshwar Temple

• Explore local markets

• Return by evening

Quick tips:

• Avoid late starts on weekends or festivals

• Check temple darshan timings in advance

• Daytime travel is generally more comfortable

Overall, the Indore to Ujjain distance is perfect for a one-day trip and doesn’t require much planning.
