Tadoba National Park, located in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, is one of India’s oldest and most popular tiger reserves. The park takes its name from Tadoba Lake and the local deity Taru, who is worshipped by communities living around the forest. The history of Tadoba is closely connected with the region’s forests, local traditions, and the efforts to protect its wildlife. Tadoba was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1935, marking an important step toward conserving its natural habitat. In 1955, the Tadoba National Park was established to provide stronger protection to the area’s forests and wildlife. Later, in 1995, Tadoba and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary were brought together to form Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve under Project Tiger. Today, the reserve is known for its healthy tiger population, diverse wildlife, dense forests, and exciting jungle safari experiences.
