Pilibhit Tiger Reserve has a fascinating history connected with the forests and wildlife of the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh. Pilibhit Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1977 to protect the region’s important habitats and wildlife. Later, the area gained greater importance for tiger conservation and was declared a tiger reserve in 2014 under Project Tiger.
