Puducherry School Bags Change Maker Award (December Week #1 (2014))
Every year CSE scrutinises and selects 20 schools at the national level in two categories — old schools and new schools — that have undertaken initiatives for the sustainable development of their campus. 

This year JNV bagged the award in the old schools category Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), a residential central school in Periyakalapet, Puducherry, bagged the Change Maker Award instituted by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE), New Delhi

Now, ‘green’ certificates for operation theatres in Mumbai (December Week #1 (2014))
Soon Mumbaiites will be able to verify the quality of service provided in an operating theatre (OT) and the safety measure before booking one.

The “Green Operating Theatre (OT)” is a newly introduced certification that will rate the facility as per its quality of safety and medical amenities.

Two hospitals in the city — PD Hinduja Hospital in Mahim and Fortis Hospital in Mulund — are in line for the ratings and are likely to get the certification for developing India’s first ever ‘Green OT’ by February 2015.

Museum in Mysuru to document flora and fauna in Cauvery belt (December Week #1 (2014))
Karnataka Tourism Minister R V Deshpande today said the state government has accepted the concept of establishing a museum in Mysuru to document the existing flora and fauna in the Cauvery river belt. 

Deshpande said the Cauvery river belt is very rich in biodiversity and available information on it will be utilised to disseminate a message about conservation of environment.
