 Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) has set March 31 as the deadline for restaurants in Chennai to take effective steps to dispose of food waste.




During a recent meeting of stakeholders – including hoteliers, resource persons, and TNPCB and civic body officials – senior officials in the board instructed hotel and restaurant owners to set up a biogas plant for the purpose by March. A special purpose
vehicle would be formed for the same and technology would be provided by Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai.

state forest department has opposed the plan to retain 10% of the funds by the Centre.

The West Bengal tea industry has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The state, which has in its fold the famed Darjeeling brand, has since last year, made international headlines with reports of ‘starvation deaths’ in the gardens in North Bengal.

Gurgaon: Over 20 trees were cleared from an area of nearly two acres, which was claimed to be a sacred grove in Faridabad, close to the MangarBani early on Monday morning. This area falls under the Aravali Notification of the Ministry of environment and
forests and cutting of trees in the area without permission is prohibited.
