Here is a wonderful opportunity to earn a Naturalist certificate from the Forest Department!! 

"Melghat is the 4th largest tiger reserve in the country in terms of area and the 1st tiger reserve of the state of Maharashtra. Unlike others, Melghat has a few unique offerings for the people who care for the nature and wildlife.

Be A Naturalist is one such programme. The aim is to create awareness and understanding about some core wildlife issues including management and administration of a park which is a tiger reserve. The participants get the opportunity to directly interact with experts and top officials and learn by doing what regular forest staff does or is done only by select few from the outside world.

The programme offers field work and in house sessions mixed with fun and adventure like camera trapping, learning sign surveys, intricacies of patrolling, mapping, first aid along with the wild side which includes safaris and treks in the tiger land.

The programme is conducted by the forest department and a certificate is issued to the participants after successful completion of the course."

In this forum post I would like to share one of the less explored waterfalls in Kerala. Name of the waterfalls is Vazhvanthol waterfalls which is situated 45 Kilometers away from the Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala.

To reach this waterfalls, you must take your drive to Nedumangadu, Vithura road from the city.  You can get the pass to this location from Kanithadam forest checkpost. 

You cannot enter the waterfalls without the permission from forest officers because it is situated in reserve forest.

Thousand Shades Butterfly Park in Gurgaon, spread over 19 acres (adjoining Tau Devilal Bio Diversity Park) seeks to provide a Natural/Self sustaining habitat for butterflies. It seeks to provide butterflies the environment that nature intended.  

The Park, developed by local NGO "Uthaan" has a large number of supporters among large Corporates(National Geographic, Moody's) and many concerned Residents of the town. Many Schools visit the Park each week, with their students.

The Park provides its visitors a unique, serene and beautiful environment to spend time in. It creates awareness about the importance of conserving these beautiful creatures through an interpretation centre and indoor conservatory.  

Around 30 species of butterflies have been spotted so far. A special indoor conservatory has been built for the plain tiger butterfly. We view this initiative as an ideal Project for your Club to be involved in an on-Ground activity. 

IndianWildlifeClub.com has associated with "Uthaan" and Manish K.(water lilies expert)to create a waterlily pond and a marsh land around it to attract fireflies! 

Manish from "Team Jallumudini" is the knowledge partner.  Manish has experience of setting up water bodies in Delhi and NOIDA.

The project is expected to cost Rs 5 lacs. 

IndianWildlifeClub has committed to raise Rs 2 lacs for the project.  The balance will be raised from Corporate Sponsorships.
