Chat on "Shooting Wildlife with a Camera" dated October 18, 2006

We, at IWC regret the inconvenience caused to

pareek, animalfreak, neeraj, abhishek, yelandur, varun and many others who tried to log into the chat room on 18th October, 2006.  A technical problem shut down the chat room for almost a half hour in between and the chat was disrupted.  We are doing something about this and hope that by 18th November our chat room will be more robust.

     Susan Is anyone around still?

pratiti Hi. I'm from kolkata. Wanna introduce myself as a environmental activist though just doing graduation.

    Susan Sorry about the break

Susan pratiti do you shoot also?

pratiti I dont have even a good cam, but still have a immense knack to snap.

pratiti I do it just as my own. no professional backround.

Susan The aim of organizing this chat was to ncourage all conservationists, activists to start talking thro images never mind the value of the cam used

pratiti yeah.. definitely. but a good lens can make wonders.

Susan with digital cameras being available cheap we must start documenting whrever we can

Susan images can be used on the web in articles even if the resoln is poor

Susan i think lenses (analog) is on the way out. buy a good digital camera instead

pratiti sure. but the question is what a wildlife photographer can do exept aware the ppl through pictures.

Susan there is a great need to create awareness pratiti what else a grapher can do??

Susan you can have slide shows in schools, have slide shows for others online

Susan write articles online with illustrations

pratiti thanx.but that is again an awareness.

Susan a camera can be a weapon too

    Susan to discourage illegal activities

    pratiti and.

Susan what are you studying now?

    pratiti zoology. doing graduation.

Susan If anyone is keen to learn photography Jindal photofilms have opened an academy with classes in the weekend at New Delhi

pratiti how long course it would be?

Susan for details you can contact Subi Chaturvedi at email media4change@gmail.com

Susan They might have something in Cal too

pratiti okay. thank u. do u know any sort of course in kolkata.

Susan Digital photography is so easy you can learn it yourself too. it frees you from the technical burdens of photography

Susan I am sorry the chat room went offline due to a technical problem so others could not participate. We plan to correct the problem soon.

pratiti u dont think a professional can guide u in a nice way?

Susan a professionl can certainly guide you to become a better photographer but your passion for your subject is what makes you a useful photographer

Susan Pratiti thanks for the patience I am afraid I have to c lose the chat room now,

Susan Bye for now see you later
